Fall Harvest

We planted 3 sunflowers late in the season. One has finally bloomed to see Portland's last sunny day of the year. I wonder if the other 2 will ever open their cheerful blooms to a rude white sky. I'll keep you posted.

Our beans continue to surprise us by producing one harvest after another. I keep thinking they've bloomed their last bloom but still find that beans are nurtured there.

I've nick-named our tomato plant "Fertile Myrtle". She just keep popping them out; her blooms are now halfway across our front door. Last night I made a great Fall pasta. I stewed the tomatoes with typical spaghetti ingredients (garlic, olive oil & herbs) but added Fall spices. Mmmm, it was good, if I do say so myself!

Here's a funny video of Brendan shivering when his baby hands are compelled to put the tomatoes in his mouth. A tomato had just popped open in his mouth and he gagged a noisy gag. (Have I mentioned he's a food-snob?)
