MERRY-MENT

We started a Christmas Eve tradition this year by reaching back into the early years of the Matt-and-Grace-show when we used to watch Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin movies with regularity. (That was when you could rent them at your local video store. This year we had to buy them.)

We started the tradition of watching Lewis-Martin movies on Christmas Eve, one after the other, only stopping for food and bathroom breaks. We laughed and wondered at Lewis’ timeless hilarity, which, in my opinion, has only ever been matched by Lucille Ball. Lewis and Ball elicit a physical response from their audience by the quality of their physical performance – usually a concerned brow, a smirking lip, and eventually heartfelt laughter.
